University of St Andrews Equestrian Club

Saints Equestrian is an inclusive club which is open to everyone, from those who have never ridden before, to those just starting out, to those interested in competing or taking regular recreational lessons. The club offers recreational lessons, hacking, club activities, and weekly socials, as well as having a competitive team which represents the university in dressage and showjumping. We are always looking for new members to join!

Our Yards

Saints Equestrian works with three excellent local equestrian centres, providing opportunities for lessons, training, and hacking throughout the academic year. Each yard offers a different experience, ensuring that riders of all abilities can find activities suited to their interests and goals.

• Training

  Drumcarrow Equestrian

  Located just 10 minutes from St Andrews, Drumcarrow Equestrian is a family-run equestrian centre and the home of our advanced recreational lessons, BUCS team training, and Showjumping Team programme.

  The yard offers weekly recreational lessons, currently priced at £45 per session, and provides coaching for riders competing at both university and national levels. Drumcarrow is easily accessible by car or taxi from St Andrews.

• Edenside Stables

  Edenside Stables is a riding school and livery yard located approximately three miles from St Andrews. It serves as the base for our beginner and intermediate recreational riding programme.

  Group lessons are offered in a welcoming and supportive environment, making Edenside an excellent place for new riders to develop their confidence and skills. Lessons currently cost £25 for 45 minutes. The yard can be reached by the 99 bus service to Dundee, as well as by car or taxi.

• Barbarafield Riding School

  Located in Craigrothie, Barbarafield Riding School hosts the club’s hacking (trail riding) activities. Riders have the opportunity to explore the fields and countryside surrounding the farm, enjoying a relaxed and scenic riding experience.

  Hacks can be arranged for riders of varying ability levels and provide a great opportunity to gain confidence outside the arena while enjoying time with fellow club members. Barbarafield is accessible by taxi or via the 64 bus service from St Andrews.
